I never like doctors. I see them not to cure my sickness but for other known evil purposes not purported by any HR managers. Yup, to get a sickie. I am such a good actor that i think i deserve an Oscar. To think that i could actually fool doctors to prescribe me a MC when ever i want. Well use the techniques at your own peril!
Me : Flu. Bad flu make me cannot sleep whole night. (with wet tissue on one hand)
Dr : How many days?
Me : 1 week. Boss asks me to come and see you.
Dr : Ok. MC for today or tomorrow?
Me : Thank you dr. (acting job done in less than 1 minute)
Then the ones who are ethically professing the job, not to be messed with by faking a sickie will usually queried further on.
Dr : Flu? Let me see got fever or not.
Me : (Darn! should have drank hot milo or was it rubbing onions under the armpit – I was told both methods can raised body temperature to fake a slight fever.)
Dr : Sorry ah. No fever no MC.
Me : But I will spread germs and I need to drive down to KL to work. Very dangerous on my health.
Dr : Sorry. Your HR says no fever no MC.
Me : KNN!
See, sometimes one really has to filter through which Dr to see. But when it comes to my kid’s pediatrician, it was more like an encounter with a …
Dr : wah bad flu. Must take probiotics. Cannot take anti-biotics di.
Me : (KNS! 1 tablet cause me RM 15 and the little one need to take at least 6 dosage.)
Dr : See, the nose drool is coming out nonstop. Take this nasal spray.
Me : (Another RM 25 gone)
Dr : Must take Piriton (common flu medication) too.
Me : (Another RM 20 )
Dr : You want to have a peaceful sleep tonight without your kid whining? Get her to breathe in this ( a kind of apparatus that lets one breathe in a type of gas to relieve nose blockage – me no doctor, dunno wat gas, ok. I just want to sleep peacefully at night. RM 30 for this treatment is good investment in exchange for a good night sleep.)
Dr : Consultation fees, you know lah, we doctors are govern by code of ethics, can charge only RM
35 and no more. See this regulation here (thrusting a flimsy looking book at me)
Darn, one lousy visit of my kids to the pediatrician caused me an average RM 150, whilst I and my lousy flu usually cost the company RM 40 and a MC. To think about it, can’t win them all. Me and my doctors.
